Botox in Tirana

Botulinum toxin treatment may temporarily soften dynamic facial wrinkles. The consultation assesses facial movement, anatomy and medical history. The product, area, dose and risks are explained before the injections.

What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein (botulinum toxin type A) that temporarily relaxes the activity of specific muscles when injected in very small amounts. As a result, the skin over these muscles relaxes and dynamic wrinkles — those caused by facial movements — soften or disappear.

Which areas can be treated with Botox?

Botulinum toxin is used for dynamic wrinkles in selected areas, such as the forehead, between the eyebrows and beside the eyes. Uses involving the eyebrows, lips, chin, neck or masseter muscles require a separate assessment and depend on the product and indication. Bruxism and excessive sweating in the underarms, hands or feet are medical concerns that must be assessed before treatment.

What happens during a session?

The procedure is quick and involves minimal discomfort:

  1. Consultation: The doctor assesses your face at rest and during movement to identify the areas and the required dose.
  2. Cleansing: The area is thoroughly disinfected.
  3. Injections: Using a very fine needle, the doctor injects small amounts at the selected points (5–15 minutes in total).
  4. Completion: You can leave immediately, with no recovery time required.

When do results begin?

The first effects are noticed within 3–5 days. Full results are usually reached by day 14. The appearance is natural: facial expressions are preserved while wrinkles visibly soften.

How long does the effect of Botox last?

The effect usually lasts several months, depending on the product, area and individual response. The timing of reassessment and further treatment is determined by the professional; the same interval should not automatically be followed for everyone.

Who may be a suitable candidate?

Treatment may be considered for adults with dynamic wrinkles or, for certain indications, bruxism and excessive sweating. The decision is based on the specific concern, medical history and suitable product, rather than a general age threshold or a promise to prevent wrinkles.

Who should not have this treatment?

Botox is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in the presence of neuromuscular conditions (myasthenia gravis, ALS), an allergy to botulinum toxin or active infections in the treatment area.

Possible side effects

When administered by qualified doctors, Botox is very safe. Side effects are usually mild:

Redness, bruising, tenderness or headaches may occur. Depending on the area, muscle weakness, asymmetry or a drooping eyelid may also occur. Seek immediate medical attention if you have difficulty swallowing or breathing, slurred speech or generalised weakness after the injections.

Aftercare instructions

Follow the clinic’s instructions after treatment. You may be advised not to touch or massage the area for 4–6 hours, not to lie down for the first four hours, and to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours. Sauna visits and swimming may be postponed for 24–48 hours. These intervals are adapted to the procedure and do not replace individual guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Will my face look frozen?

No, when treatment is carried out correctly. The aim is to soften wrinkles while preserving natural expressions. The doctor carefully determines the dose and injection points.

What is the difference between Botox and fillers?

Botox relaxes muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles. Fillers restore volume in the lips, cheeks or static lines (those visible even without moving your face). They are often combined for a more complete result.

At what age should I start?

There is no general starting age. Treatment is assessed for adults according to their dynamic wrinkles, specific concerns and medical history, without a promise to prevent ageing.
