Pigmentation Treatment in Tirana — Eden Laser Clinic

What are pigmented skin marks?

Pigmented marks are areas with greater melanin production than surrounding skin. They may look brown, grey or darker than the natural tone and appear on the face, hands, décolletage or other sun-exposed areas.

Main types of pigmentation we assess

Marks may be solar lentigines, melasma, post-acne or post-inflammatory pigmentation, or freckles. Causes and depths differ. A new mark or one changing shape, colour, size or bleeding needs diagnosis before a cosmetic procedure.

Why do marks appear?

Sunlight and UV, hormonal changes, pregnancy, contraceptives, hormone therapy, ageing and genetics can contribute. Marks may remain after acne, scratches or eczema. Some medicines increase light sensitivity and must be disclosed during consultation.

Pigmentation treatment options

Q-switched / Nd:YAG laser

Laser selectively targets pigment while aiming to preserve surrounding skin. It may suit solar lentigines and well-defined marks.

Dye-VL (Intense Pulsed Light)

May address scattered marks, couperose and mild to moderate pigmentation, while improving overall tone.

Chemical peeling

Controlled acids exfoliate superficial skin layers to reveal a more even appearance.

Brightening mesotherapy

Injectable pigmentation products require an identifiable product and appropriate use. Ingredients, evidence, limitations and risks are discussed beforehand.

Dermapen 4 microneedling

Microneedling is considered only in selected diagnosed cases. It must not be automatically combined with cosmetic serums; pigmentation may worsen after inflammation.

How is the right treatment chosen?

The plan considers mark type, pigment depth and Fitzpatrick phototype. Medical history, previous treatment, season and future sun exposure are reviewed before selecting a procedure. Learn about Dye-VL IPL technology.

These factors guide the protocol; a combination of two or more treatments may be discussed where appropriate.

How many sessions are needed?

Session numbers differ between sun spots, melasma and post-acne pigmentation. Melasma may need combined care and long-term management; some superficial marks may need fewer sessions. Intervals, reassessment and maintenance are individual, without a guaranteed number for every diagnosis.

What should you expect?

After laser, a mark may initially darken and peel naturally over 7–14 days. A chemical peel may cause exfoliation. Results may become clearer over 4–8 weeks as healing progresses, depending on the procedure and skin response.

Sun protection after treatment

Sun protection is essential. Without daily SPF 50+, marks may return even after effective treatment. The clinic provides tailored aftercare and protective-product guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Can marks be completely removed?

Superficial solar lentigines may clear substantially. Melasma is more complex and needs long-term management; it may improve but can recur if sun exposure is not controlled.

Is laser treatment painful?

You may feel brief heat or small snapping sensations. Anaesthetic cream may be used where appropriate to support comfort.

What is the best season for pigmentation treatment?

Autumn and winter often make sun avoidance easier because exposure is lower. Timing still depends on the treatment and individual circumstances.
