Sunburn: damage beyond the surface
How UV exposure affects skin and why daily protection matters.

Sunburn is an inflammatory skin reaction caused by excessive ultraviolet (UV) exposure. Although it initially appears as redness, burning and tenderness, damage also affects deeper skin structures, including cells and collagen and elastin fibres.
Repeated unprotected exposure accelerates photoageing and encourages pigmentation spots, loss of elasticity and early wrinkles. It also significantly increases the risk of precancerous lesions and skin cancer.
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, limiting exposure during high-UV hours and appropriate after-sun care help preserve long-term skin health, integrity and appearance.
